The Lacuna Expanse App Reviews

Expand your empire on the go

Easily monitor and upgrade your empire from this app. I find this slower than the web app, but it is great for when you are out!

Poor Design. Dont download.

In comparison with other free games, this game provides a new concept and different play style. However, this doesnt make up for the fact that the game fails on so many levels. 1) Poor instruction: For a game of this kind of complexity, a "wiki" hardly does it any justice. Especially one that is incomplete. Put together a quick start guide for new player. When I pick a race type, how does that impact me? Also, the "growth-ability" of your planet seems to be at random (as indicated by the number of plots on each planet). In a competitive game such as this let me feel comfortable before diving into the game. 2) Poor UI: Okay, so the game requires me to utilize resources and navigate in large expanses of space. So make it easy for me. Why should I have to flip through 3 screens in order to see if I have enough resources to build something? Also why is the "downgrade" option in the menu with a higher level building when it clearly belongs as part of the lower tiered buildings option. Or how about the star map, I cant even get back to my own planet because your games search function doesnt work. Common sense would indicate that theres a "home" button. Not intuitive, not easy to navigate 3) Lag/slow servers: Especially in a game like this, where I have to follow the instructions in my "inbox" you make it difficult to scroll and find my planet. Every few seconds the server loads and lags. Thats your 3 stars right there gone. You only saving grace, interesting concept and absence of ads. If it werent for these two factors, Id have deleted the moment I opened it.

Ive been betrayed

I spent so long playing this game... I had grown to love it so much... Id loved every moment of it and it was one of the best games Ive ever played on mobile... but then... but THEN!!! In the beginning of August... way early in the morning, just past midnight... the game, or the developers, decided to give my the middle finger. I go off for a minute... then come back to "Saben!" My non-existent Black Hole Generators on every world were "sabotaged" and completely eviscerated every single planet I owned! I felt like Id been stabbed in the back by the game Id loved so much and held dearly... months I had spent, little compared to the years others have dedicated to it... but it was no less betrayal. I knew the game was ending. I knew it was coming to a close soon. But that was not right. That wasnt how that should have gone. But oh no... thank you, game developers! I really love how you pulled that epic backstab on me! I hope youre haunted every night for the rest of your lives.

Great game, even better app

This app is great for all who enjoy this game. Actually, its an impressively done app even if youre not playing the game- it loads smoothly and quickly and incorporates most of the same functionality the website offers.

Good tool for a great game

Ive really been enjoying the game so far through the web UI, and was anxiously awaiting the iPhone client so I could easily keep tabs on my empire anywhere. Personally Id advise you to get the full experience by playing on the web first, but Im sure the iPhone client will get updated as quickly as Apple allows to maintain feature parity with the web version. Give the game a go! Theres no reason not to at least try it.

Absolutely love this app! Now I can play anywhere!!!

I have already been playing this game on the web and so Im already addicted. Now that there is an iPhone app I can play Lacuna Expanse on the go!!! The game looks amazing on my iPhone 4s Retina display. Thank you for making this app available!

Been waiting for this.

Glad to see that it has finally made it into the itunes app store. Been awaiting this application for ever. Works very well and finally allows me to not have to be tethered to my computer to feed my expanse addiction.

Works well

Now I do not have to back to the computer every few hours to check on what is going in with my empire (jsdallas). Now I can check on my perl home any time.

Help

Uggh it wont let me start an empire because I accidentally hit the home button and idk how to get back like I named it chose a power and then exited and now I cant go back

I Somehow Found Time While Colonizing Planets...

I was a little skeptical about the game in general at first, but was quickly sucked in, waiting up until all hours just so I could queue up a few more buildings. Its safe to say that with the release of an iPhone app, Ill be playing this game anywhere and everywhere. Whether its checking to see if I can make that latest upgrade, or if my colony ships are finally finished, I can see this becoming one of my most used apps, so, why not give it a go?

Excellent way to play

I really enjoy games in this genre/style. They have really fallen out of favor, playing via web browser may be the way they rise again. This, though is true way to play. If I can check my progress while waiting for my to-go Thai food, what better way to waste time on your iPhone?

Crashes right away on ipad

Crashes before you can do annoying on iPad.

Incredibly Fun Game

This is a great empire management game with a space setting. There are many things to build and many opportunities to interact with other players. I have had the app crash a few times but it has not significantly impacted my gameplay.

Good at first, then awful

It was kinda fun at first then I was too busy to play much so I forgot about it and when I try to play it says this empire no longer exists. When I tried to make a new empire it said this email is already in use but that would only work if my account still existed

Great

Dont listen to that person saying there isnt a tutorial, there is, and the game is pretty easy to pick up. The game itself is awesome. This app, however, needs work as it crashes frequently. Its not too bad as it boots back up pretty quickly and login is a breeze. Recommended!

Stress free gaming

Great game to check on every once in awhile and play on the go. I would recommend starting your empire using the web browser (computer applet) because the client is a bit smoother. This game is much better than haypi, world war, mafia wars etc. simply because you make the experience your own, and not to mention the graphics are much more appealing. Learning curve is a couple of weeks so not for the impatient gamer, however. Very friendly community and active development team, join us in the expanse!

Pretty fun but....

Overall a pretty fun time-waster. The star map screen just kills the game for me. Half the time you arent even near your explored systems and its pretty lame to have to scroll all the way over. It can take a good 20 minutes to track down your planet so you can begin scouting systems again. Ill be happy to rate again when this feature is improved.

Do not Download unless lacuna fan

The Lacuna expanse is a great online game but i would suggest not downloading this app unless you already play lacuna. This app is not as smooth as the pc version but it is prtable and that is great for any lacuna player.

An Amazing App

I absolutely love this app. I highly recommend this app for others to download.

Ui not Apple standard, but great game

This is a phone ui for a VERY GOOD web browser strategy game. Try the web version, and then use this client to tune something while away from your desk. My key problem is that lists with chevron to the right are for drilling in deeper in most places. But then they are reused to actually kick off actions sometimes. Replace those with normal buttons and that problem goes away. The game itself is more about building and a cold war style of fight with other planets. You can build ships, but the real action is with spies. Give the game a try.
